| Flowering plum (scientific name: Amygdalus triloba), also called Xiaotaohong, is named because its leaves resemble elm leaves and its flowers resemble plum blossoms. It is a shrub sparse tree, 2-3 meters high; flowers are single to double petals, purple-red, 1 to 2 are born in leaf axils, flowering in April; drupes are red, subglobose, and hairy. Light-loving, slightly shade-tolerant, cold-resistant, able to survive the winter at -35°C. The soil requirements are not strict, and neutral to slightly alkaline and fertile soil is better. The root system is well developed and drought tolerance is strong. Intolerant of waterlogging. Strong disease resistance. Born in low to mid-elevation slopes or ditch trees, shrubs or forest edges. |
